This movie is great. This song is great. After watching the music video and being intrigued by how the meaning of the song transcended romantic couples, I thought of Rapunzel and Gothel's strained relationship. But really, that was her mother. It's not so cut and dry, like "Look, we beat the evil witch, she fell out the window, let's go dance and hurrah." It took some emotional gusto on Rapunzel's part to defy the ONLY human she'd EVER known until A FEW DAYS AGO. On the other hand, I felt like Gothel was given more emotional depth than your average Disney villainess. I found their relationship intriguing the whole movie through, and here I present to you a video, my first in a very, very long time.

  • I loved this. Amazing how you nailed down the complex nature of their nature... It's one of the darkest in all Disney-movies. I personally get shivers every time Rapunzel says "I love you more"- because she REALLY MEANS it! Poor girl... Thank you for this piece of art!

  • @Maochita11 Why, thank YOU for this detailed and meaningful compliment!

  • Wow, I love this video! I can not believe I have not added it to my favorites yet.

I love how it focus's on the dark side on 'Tangled'. I have never heard the song until now either and I like it, good choice.

  • At first I was worried that this would try to excuse Mother Gothel of the horrible things she's done. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that not only did you not skimp on the gory details of their worst moments, but you also showed the dark co-dependency that she forced upon Rapunzel.

    Excellent vid, uncompromising and perceptive.

  • Thank you for sharing, my friend.

  • 'It NEVER happened'.. perfect depiction of denial in their darkest colors... and the LOVE stage Mother Gothel and Rapunzel are stuck in never to blossom until they learn this 2:14 is NOT love. (subtle S&M?).. Rapunzel felt it from the git but she was helpless to do anything until her prince came and almost died on her. Rapunzel won because her love and very early memories hidden in her subconscious were the stronger kind of love. It took a child's tough love 2 xpose this 2 all

    (bitchen song btw)
