I worked there for 5 years until this closing day. They were the best years of my life and will miss the place and the wonderful staff I had a pleasure to work with.

OMG i went on holiday to Dawlish 2 years ago and went to Brixham from the day. I went into Woolworths and bought a Simpsons DVD from there! :-)

the future of retail is the internet, it's cheaper for companies and it's less work. most people shop online these days it's less work and doesn't cost them alot either.. so it's gonna be van drivers pickers and the odd manager for the warehouses much cheaper to employ so many many are going to be left unemployed because of this mess

We lost our woolies today here in Newtownards, Norhtern Ireland. People can praise Tesco and Asda all they like, but in our darkest day of the troubles, tesco and Asda dint not want to know that Northern Ireland exsited. Woolies and Woolco however were always here, serving us well through our darkest days, I for one and I am not alone will miss this great store and all the fond memories it brings back, Thanks Woolies for over 50 Years in Newtownards.

Slightly unfair on the CEO of Woolies, he only took over in September 2008, 1 month or so before it went tits up, so I would blame the previous CEO
