Damian of Molokai is one of VERY few ppl made 'saints' by the Vatican....who actually LIVED what Jesus talked. Becoming one of the poor, living their life, loving them & dying as one of them.

Most of them were just very good at 'talking about God'......if that...! Or talking volumes about "charity', but leaving the dirty work to others, while hobknobbing with the rich.

Like....Mother Theresa......Jose-Maria Escriva (shudder!), & the like.

Christ rebuked his apostles when they asked 'who will be 1st in the kingdom of heaven' -as that reeked of ego & a 100% misunderstanding of His message!

Perhaps if those who have purported to be the successors to Peter would comprehend and LIVE Jesus' teachings - instead of making a living off of them......

Saint Father Damien, pray for us! What a great day to be from Belgium! My sister, Sandy used to live in Hawaii as well as my brother and my ex-fiancee. They were very impressed with the devotion to Fr. Damien there, and brought it back to Indiana. Well, God bless America! American finally has a saint from HAWAII !
