ON TOUR [2010 VERSION]
After the huge success of That's the Way it Is in 1970, MGM wanted to do another Elvis rockumentary as fast as possible. In 1972, MGM filmed Elvis performing in 15 cities, one each night, during April. Interviews and fan comments were added along with scenes of Elvis kissing girls in his movies. This made the Colonel unhappy, but MGM wasn't in the mood to take that off and simply stated that "it was only a joke about how repetitive those movies were and how the plot would change, but all would work the same way".
On Tour won a Golden Globe and made back its $ 1,6 million budget ($ 1 million was only Elvis' fee) in just three days. In 2010, MGM released a remastered DVD / Blu-Ray to celebrate Elvis' 75th birthday. Besides better sound and image quality, the opening sequence had it's song changed from "Johnny B. Goode" to "Don't Be Cruel" due to copyright issues. "Also sprach Zarathustra" isn't heard in both versions due to copyright issues and was replaced by an unknown MGM waltz.
