  • What is the weight of the rail? 85LBS? 100LBS? 115LBS?

  • @rdsieben - 85 lb rail - business is actually increasing up there and there may be line upgrades in the future

  • There is road salt that gets hauled up there in Covered Hopper Cars during the fall/winter, and there is shipments of bridge parts and construction materials that come on flat cars, but these are not regular.. There is new customers coming on line in the next couple of years...

  • There are currently 4 trains a week - two north bound (533) and two south bound (534)... In the winter for the ice road and the summer for barge season there are 6 to 8 trains a week... Thanks for watching!

  • On the Manning and Meander River Sub, 6 axle units are prohibited... so we are stuck with 4 axles, and CN doesn't run 4 axle units with DB, atleast not up here... so we get pretty damn good with the air!

  • Actually we just had the unit... We set our train out online and had just the 9527 and an SBU....

  • Awesome footage. lots of honking. What engine # was that?

  • Does this continue to Edmonton or does it still terminate in Smith? Wouldn't mind seeing one of these come back to the city from the north.

  • Is CN going to discontinue this line sometime in the near future?

  • anything other than tankers going up there?

  • @enr3870 Recently they've sent WC 3026 and 3027 which are GP40u units, both with dynamic braking up north.

  • i can see my house!

  • what kind of rolling stock do you have in the nwt? from what ive seen its only tankers? are there any freight yards there?
