  • So what's the take-away from this video? That Sonar 8.5 SUCKS and X1 is WAY BETTER? OK, I get that -- but remember your company made 8.5, and lots of people still use it to make amazing music...

  • @zgrafsoftware Where in the video did we say 8.5 sucks? The take away from this video should be that we took what we had made in 8.5 and previous and made it even easier in X1. :)

  • does X1 crash as much as the older versions?

  • im an fl guy but this does look very nice and simple and i love z3ta+2 with a passion lol

  • Definitely looks better but having used Sonar 1 through Sonar 8.5 and constantly being let down by claims of improved performance as well as a severe lack of effective, smooth post-production workflow... I went to other solutions. I also found that VST RAM performance was really lacking too... so here's hoping that CW has (or will) improve all of these things. Until that happens... I'll just keep using what I'm using now. The automation envelopes does look MUCH better though!!!

  • @PetreckMusic

We've released three free maintenance updates for X1 so far, X1a, X1b, and X1c, as well as several hotfixes in between. As such, X1 is more mature and stable right than its ever been.

CPU usage is actually better in X1 than it was in 8.5, 8, and before as we always continue to optimize SONAR with each new version. If you have an Intel Sandy Bridge system then X1 will take advantage of their new extensions in Windows 7, yielding even lower CPU usage.

  • @PetreckMusic Yes, it really is this easy to use. All of the examples in the video are real-world scenarios and are real examples of how the features work in X1, no jump cuts or faking in any way.

And we use the same project and use-case scenario for every example in X1 and its 8.5 counterpart so that each example is an apples to apples comparison.

  • I have used Cakewalk & later Sonar for many years. This is the BEST update you have ever put out. WELL DONE!!!

  • @TheUnknownCowboy Is it really that easy? What about reliability? Is it really buggy? Can you say something about CPU usage? if you used Sonar 8 it had a lot of bugs and then came SONAR 8.5 and I never looked back. Now I'm again a bit wary of upgrading to Sonar X1. Would appreciate your feedback.

  • i fucking love you cakewalk.
