Nassau News Live spoke with Gene Levenstein, Interim Assistant Superintendent for the Hempstead School Department about how the proposed New York State budget cuts will affect the Hempstead Schools. Levenstein spoke about the fact that 75% of Hempstead's budget is based on staffing and these proposed cuts will force the district to take a closer look at this. Hempstead schools are not taking any preventative actions yet, but Levenstein is prepared for the future.
