A lifelong Nebraskan and Nebraska Wesleyan University senior responds to the question, "What if Arizona's SB 1070 came to Nebraska." Lawmakers in the Nebraska legislature have said they will attempt to push through an Arizona copycat law in Jan. 2011. A transpartisan coalition of student leaders, religious leaders, law enforcement leaders, and business leaders are taking steps to avoid the tragic pitfalls of Arizona, and, before it, Prince William County, Virginia as seen in the film "9500 Liberty" after which "Liberty Nebraska" takes its name.

  • SB 1070 is one of the best laws ever to be passed

  • sb1070 is just a fancy way to say i don't want Latinos in my community

  • i think it's going too far, there could come a point im afraid it's becomes a takeover of a country.

  • @EricByler52, True, since the Minuteman Border Watch of April 2005, more border fence has been built (but it is incomplete), more funding has increased manpower in the BP/ICE, arrests and deportations of non/criminal illegals hast risen steadily, and we have momentum which we will keep accelerating, until the job is, then we will go into "maintenance phase" and secure our national sovereignty. However, the kidnappings are recent, we have much to do.

  • @EricByler52 In otherwords, illegals have ALWAYS been ENABLING crime because they WON'T report it. They're thinking FIRST of covering their own asses, so they keep quiet. Ever think about THAT? If not, NOW you know why "crime is down amongst illegal alien areas", so don't give me this crap about "scaring the poor illegals".

And you're telling ME to fact check? LMAO!!!!!

Dude, get off the soapbox & get your own facts straight, alright? You have no idea what the hell you're spewing.

  • @EricByler52 And, uh, your crime claim is severely skewed - ever think that the numbers are ARREST stats that have increased? Because, well, THAT'S what it is. Remember: the state-wide ban on sanctuary cities was left fully intact by Bolton in July.

And, uh, ever think that the "crime" you're talking about concerns incidents actually reported? See, the illegals have ALWAYS kept their damn mouths shut for fear of deportation due to involvement with police.

    (cont'd)

  • @EricByler52 It's down NOW because more than 100,000 illegals have self-deported since the introduction of SB 1070 in April.

  • Correction, there is one place in Arizona where crime has been going up the past several years. That's Maricopa County, where "Sheriff Joe" has destroyed the trust and faith the community had had in law enforcement. Crimes that are never reported are a lot harder to solves. And unsolved crime begets more crime. Fact check and you will find that crime is down where immigrants reside, and up where law enforcement puts immigration status before public safety.

  • When you talk about "kidnappings" in Phoenix, AZ, you demonstrate a willingness to memorize and repeat falsehoods for political purposes. Fact check on google, ignore propaganda, and you will see.

The fact is that crime is DOWN all over Arizona, including on the borders, and it has been going down for years. Also, blindly repeating the "kidnapping" propaganda ignores the fact that most kidnappings in Phoenix are unauthorized immigrants, when the aim is to frighten suggestible non-immigrants.

  • @dachouffe No, you've just proven to be nothing but a Monday morning QB who sits back and potshots anything that doesn't jive with your own opinion.

    Next, please.....
