[two of three] 2/6
This film chronicles the rise of the personal computer/home computer beginning in the 1970s with the Altair 8800, Apple II and VisiCalc. It continues through the IBM PC and Apple Macintosh revolution through the 1980s and the mid 1990s at the beginning of the Dot-com boom. It includes interviews with Apple Computer's Steve Jobs and Microsoft's Bill Gates.

This three-part film first premiered on PBS in June 1996.

  • UNIX isn't boring.

  • At 2:08. My sister has an original IBM PC just like that one! She is so nostalgic. And it still works too.

  • Where is two-of-three parts 3 through 6?

  • Bill's sister was hot!

  • What is in this video right there changed history, you can make love your apple products all you want, but IBM's decision to make it's second personnal computer's achitecture accessible is a big part of the dream to have computers affordable and accessible to the masses.

The other great contribtor to this is not even mentionned in the documentary? Commodore, by offering superior gear for ridiculous low price.

Apple is important, but for me it comes third in terms of overall impact.
