Looking for unique Florida Christmas cards? Are you a fan of the book, "A Land Remembered?" Do you like sending cards over the holidays your friends and family will treasure...and place on the mantel? Then we have a card for you.
There is clearly a story behind this card, and your friends and family will be drawn in.
This Christmas card is based upon a scene from A Land Remembered, Patrick D. Smith's enduring novel about Florida pioneers. In fact, the card's concept was proposed and sketched by Patrick Smith himself. He wanted it to be 2010's limited edition Christmas card, a tradition we started with last year's card, Sox The Ox, which was so popular it sold out.
A Land Remembered has been in print for over 26 years and gains in popularity every year. Untold thousands of people of all ages adore this book and say it is their favorite book of all time. The fact that you are here at this site shows that you're most likely one of those people. Fans of the book, or people who have an interest in Florida pioneers and history, will fall in love with this card.

It's based on a tender scene from the book which portrays the Fort Drum Christmas frolic of 1875. Self-conscious, awkward Zech MacIvey, a main character of the book, finds himself outside alone with the bold and beautiful Glenda Turner, who surprises him by announcing, "I love you more than anything." She suggests they get "promised."
Excerpt from the book:
Zech said, "Promised? What's that?"
"You know, going steady. Promised to each other... Will you do it?"
"I guess," he agreed reluctantly, still not sure what it meant; and then he said with more fervor, "Yes, I'd like to. But you'll have to tell me what to do."
"You can start by kissing me," Glenda says.
We are calling this card "Promised" and for more than the previously described scene. Not only does it depict Zech and Glenda's promise of love to each other, but there's another promise behind the making of this card.
Here Is The "Back Story"
You see, this is Rick Smith, Patrick Smith's son owner of the website, who is writing this. I also named this card "Promised" because when I was visiting my father in March of this year (2010), when he was quite ill and despondent over a fall he had taken at Thanksgiving (I'm very happy to report that he is doing better now), he requested that I make a card based on this specific scene. From his hospital bed, he even sketched it out so that I knew exactly how he wanted it to look. He really perked up from his gloomy mood, so I knew that this meant a lot to him. I promised him that I would do it, and so now that it is done, it's a promise kept between Dad and me.
These cards are available exclusively from a few hand selected stores and museum shops throughout Florida and from this website. You're not going to find this in a Hallmark Store, Walmart or your local drug store. We are only printing a limited number so when they sell out, they are gone. I advise you to get your order in early to ensure that you will get these unique cards based on the ever-popular book of a Florida pioneering family, A Land Remembered. I guarantee that this is a card that your friends and relatives will appreciate more than cards with silver bells, Santa Claus, elves or snow scenes.
A set of 12 cards is $15.00 and a set of 20 cards is $22.00. Envelopes are included. Order 2 sets of 20 cards for $44 ($22 each), get 10 cards FREE.

Here's a great idea! Buy a set of 12 cards AND a hardbound copy of A Land Remembered. Use one of the cards as a gift card with the book (maybe you'd better buy another book for yourself) and send the rest of the cards to your friends and family. Buy a book and the pack of 12 cards and SAVE $2.00. Get both for $32.95 (Save $2.00)
You are always welcome to order by mail or phone as well.
