( http://heritage-key.com/blogs/sean-williams/awil-video-series-queen-boudicca-... ) The Romans hated her, the Celts fought for her and now she is immortalised with a statue in Westminster. But who was Boudicca? The latest video in the Ancient World in London series looks at how her name is often misspelt, how her bloodthirsty rage was caused by the death of her husband and raping of her daughters and how the Romans beat her to within an inch of her life. The story of how she sacked three Roman cities in Britain is uncovered, and how she fell at the Battle of Watling Street.

  • The actress playing Broudicca was NOT a large, substantial woman, she was a skinny actress.

To weld a sword, you need strong arms and this actress had skinny, weak looking arms.

Since most people who watch HK speak English, why the English subtitles?

It just messes up the view of the video.

I would expect her to die defending her people from the Romans and they would have taken her off and buried her in a unmarked grave so the people could not worship her as a hero.

  • @sheilach1 English subtitles are provided for people who are hard of hearing, or find closed captions easier to read. This is a user controlled setting which you can disable in your Account Settings under Playback Setup.

  • Killing Goddess cults was through the mission to abolish mother lineages that survived since cave times, which held the fabric of ancient communities. We always know who the mother is by the birth of the child, but not the father. So to build a god cult, guaranteed lineage from Father to Son (the KINGDOM) by bypassing all money, power and spiritual authority over to men. If you didn't agree with Roman authority, you would be murdered. Boudicca disagreed and today, Muslim women still live it

  • she's burried in hollywood

  • @ilurvmyfriends Celts would dye their hair Blonde with lemon juice.

This idea is reinforced by Roman accounts of the Celt's in Spain doing it.

  • @SamCarruthers1986 tis true. I mean, beauty is perceptive and in that time, and within their tribes/clans, I'm sure beauty was of strong independent women. Either way the point is that beauty is different based on geography and the era.

  • The fact remains, what we think of as beautiful in a woman now, is undoubtedly much different to what was thought back then. Back then, a woman who was of considerable physical size (ie, capable of wielding a sword or fighting with a spear and shield) would have been an interesting match for bearing strong, powerful children capable of doing the same. And if she had imposing features to pass onto her children as well, so much the better, as that, too, would be an advantage in intimidation.

  • @wompasdub I bet she would fo looked pleasing because of the amount of followers she had. Would people of cared as much if she was'nt pretty?
