This 3-part series of interviews with Dr. Vandana Shiva about the future of food is one of the most contentious, revolutionary, profound, and important discussions of any, we have had to date on Food News. This is more than about the safety of biotechnology; its about the ability of all of us to have a choice of the foods that we eat, and for our farmers to be able to freely use their own seeds, and grow food in the manner that they choose.

  • Dr. Shiva, I admire your steadfastness, I've been following your work since the Terra Madre convention in Turin, 2006. You are brilliant!

  • Great video, she is totally right, but SOME people-- the bad ones-- i won't mention who, don't think so, and genetic engineering is wrong, bad, cruel to the nature. The so-called saving-people-from-starvation is actually killing-people-super-cruelly. The ones who don't think that Dr. Vandana Shiva is right, they want to kill themselves, so go ahead, do it! Here is a video on the same topic:

  • the text on the bottom is a little off.

  • Having More Than 7 Days Of Food Makes You A Suspected Terrorist look it up, its related... they dont want us to have gardens and be self sufficient. if you care about life and liberty, and you live in the states, look this up.

  • @nardnardn I have heard of classical breeding but the term genetic engineering is almost always applied to recombinant DNA techniques, knocking out genes, etc. Let's say you are right that the term "classical genetic engineering" aplies to conventional hybrids, your argument still doesn't make sense. Hybrids(cross breeding) are developed through " inter-species" breeding. Where as "intra-species" breeding is selective breeding. But it doesn't matter, what substance would you like to look at?

  • @myndy86 the old form of hybrid engineering is called classical genetic engineering. That's what I found out. In classical genetics the breeding is exclusively intra-species. This form of genetic engineering has been on for centuries.Whereas in the modern genetics it is possible to do inter-species - in the case of animals as well as plants. But anyways let us look beyond the mere semantics and look at the substance.
