Speaking to Labour activists at the National Policy Forum Gordon Brown said -

"Our role when facing global economic challenges is to be on the side of hardworking families -- on the side of the people of Britain.

When people ask us where we stand when we're dealing with these problems -- we stand for the principal we have always stood for -- fairness for the hardworking people of Britain."

The PM continued - "The only agenda that matters for a Labour Party thinking about the future is the agenda of the future. "

Attacking the Conservative Party's policies, the PM said that he did not want "to wake up 24 months from now" to see education and health budgets cut, at the same time as "massive tax cuts" for the rich.

The PM concluded - "Have confidence that not only do we have the right policies, but when the time comes we will be able to persuade the British people."

  • labour has done so much. Don't vote for the conservative fantasy for life!

  • HE HAS DONE A LOT FOR HULL..

  • Oh yes of course, 2.5% reduction on VAT will cause GB to boom. When decisions like that are made shows how out of touch they are. Wake up, the PM did not think you were clever enough to have a vote on the treaty after promising it and you still support them.

  • Any further adieu?

  • yeh

  • No one will have me voting Labour! I'm a tory and proud to be :)

  • Iam a labour voter dont worry ..

  • We are sending out the right message. What is itg that Cameron is offering to the voting public that we are not. Nothing; nothing except sound-bites and spin. Continue to support Gordon Brown. I do not envy his circumstances, but I know that he is doing an exemplary job. Britain may be flirting with recession, but under the Tories, we would be in way over our heads...

  • we really need to sort out world trade talks

  • Very inspiring speech that caught my attention, also remember that words are nothing without actions. I hope that the labour party does not just propose but really puts its policies into action in order to improve the british economy...they have both my attention and support.
