  • And the message is that liberal theology has absolutely nothing to offer a person who is dying, or for that matter, a living person who thinks that "we live today and we're gone tomorrow, so live it up!"

I loved his response to her proud assertion that "I think it's up to each one of us to interpret what God wants." The "dead end" of refusing to believe the Scriptures is eternal death in hell.

  • finally, a show that has a real message

He does not want "answers". He already "knows". See how he refuses to listen or think. What he wants in this vid is a shortcut to salvation for himself only.

What he really needs is to get up and right the wrongs he committed. Donate his organs. Pray for a better world. etc.

As the sayings go: helping others is the basis of happiness; saving lives is better than building a big place of worship.

In short, his main obstacle to "Forgiveness" is his selfishness.

  • Yes, its much better to for a human being to know what a god thinks and tell the man that he is forgiven for a wrong to a third party.

  • this part is amazing, many people should see this and come to a place where they will ask the "vital" questions this man is asking ...

  • have you tried Buddhism, old man ?

  • I hope she doesn't come out as the hero ("the poor, desperate old guy just doesn't get there are no answers") in the typical, TV fashion. What every human being needs is the acknowlegement of the Greater Other, which is what our legal systems & morality are based upon. When we judge ourselves by ourselves instead (all love, no justice) we pitch ourselves into the abyss of realizing how useless that is. Only JESUS can give us that realization of our need for & love of eternal Life from a Rescuer

  • This woman embodies the elements of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) which seminarians of most major denominations have to go though. The patients response shows the absurdity and limitations of a pop psychology approach to "Pastoral Ministry". This man needs an encounter with the real Jesus Christ and comes to a chaplain for answers, not questions. Well done. - Also a Seminarian

  • ER finally got it right!

  • love the fact that this shatter's the 'chaplain' on the show - next episode she's quit and gone on her way. kinda showed that her view didn't answer and fulfill all her questions and reasons for life.

I didn't quite like the resolution to the guys problems in this episode though - but you can't expect an orthodox and succinct Gospel presentation on a mainline TV show can you :-)

  • Brilliant, simply brilliant. Good acting that captures the depraved theological formation most ministers are getting these days. Feelings and emotions are passing along with our bodies in time and space; the rational human soul needs reason to understand God's mercy and love. Thank you so much for posting this. - Seminarian.
