@SPS148669 Damn right! Not to mention how even China kicked our ass.
-
If only Canada upgraded it to a Shinkansen style line. Now we have the slowest 3rd world style trains of all developed countries.
-
@kaizerzydeco the train could have been saved if they removed the turbo engine off the train set and convert them into electric like they did with the TGV and other old high speed train in other country.
-
@kaizerzydeco it was probably a Boomboggle in these day.

Nice 10,000th view

On the return inaugural trip ex Montreal I recall the speed indicator topping 110mph about 30-minutes out of Toronto.
-
Dec 20 1967 hit 170.8mph passing Princeton Junction station in US. The empty return run later its rummoured by a crewmember to have topped out well above 170mph but wasnt officially witnessed.
July 22 76 under via banner officially hit 140mph. Not sure if it was ever given official speed run as CN. I saw (never rode) the turbo a few times while my dad was CN Yard Master at Cherry street yard. I have Rapido's HO scale CN 9car turbo to run on my 22x12' shelf layout :)

All these videos talk about "high speed", but I have yet to see any speed statistics (or high speed for that matter). How fast could it go?
-
No real progress since. Very sad.

This train should have operated on the Entire VIA RAIL Corridor at 125MPH very easily. With CTC, ATS , ATC, 115lb continous rail and concrete roadbed and eliminate all crossings overtime. That could have easily been entirely attained in 20 years at a very reasonable cost.
What song is that? It is even awesomer than the train!
