For over 20 years, the Veterans Viet Nam Restoration Project (VVRP) has been sending teams of veterans to Vietnam on humanitarian projects of reconstruction to reconcile with the Vietnamese and to heal the emotional and spiritual wounds suffered in war. This is the story of Team 24 - a group of 8 veterans and the wife of one - who in April 2009, spent 2 weeks in the small commune of A Ngo in the A Shau Valley, working alongside the Vietnamese to construct a 3 room addition to the primary school that serves the children of this poor, tribal region. The nine-member team had life changing experiences during this unique adventure as they returned to former battlefields of Vietnam to carry bricks and motar, rather than guns and grenades. • We greatly appreciated your humanitarian work. I hope this trip help heal the team members tragic memories or at least relieve some of their burden. As a vietnamese, I believe the vietnamese people always see America as a friend not a foe.
