The Trapper Creek Lodge is one of the finest and most elegant log buildings that can be found in the area. The history of Trapper Creek Lodge can be dated back to 1882 - when the first settlers arrived in the basin. During the roaring 20's, the 16-1 Stock Ranch (as it was called back then), welcomed affluent guests and "dudes" from the eastern states, including Ernest Hemmingway, Owen Wister and Theodore Roosevelt.
