Released in '67 this song sank without a trace, as did it's predecessor, 'You've Been Untrue' on Cameo. There was enough local play in Philly to entice Stan Watson to start up his own Philly Groove label, and well "La La", the rest is history. This record was re-released after "La La" hit and did dent the lower reaches of the charts in the spring of '68. This was the first collaberation of William Hart and Thom Bell, and one of Bell's first production credits. A song Pookie really likes, and well, I really dig the Kettle Drum!

  • I hadn't heard this since I was a teen, yet it had been with me. I'd thought that i'd just imagined it and credited myself with thinking up a great song and arrangement even though I don't know music.

  • Today music has no feeling, because the kids refuse to learn how to play a instrument, noways, they take the easy way out and sample someone else's music,it's okay to sample sometimes, but learn something of your own,so 30 or 40 years later, your generation, will appreciated you,and another thing, come up with a good melody!

  • this song is gangster I can never listen to these song when I by self I cant handel it no more., I gave up. Luv it forever

  • I met Thom Bell in '68 and he told me he played every instrument on this record. He explained how he did the kettle drum and bell chimes. What a talent! And one of Will Hart's best leads.......full of emotion....catch the backround vocals going into the middle 8..."do do do do do" right into the keyboards...........amazing arrangement! Bell had the ear, no question!

  • Will Hart gets it in on this track...My dudes for sure...straight fire...saw them regularly at the Apollo...shout out to Harlem world!

  • Awesome cut! It was on a compilation we had growing up and I used to sing the background all the time imagining myself in the group onstage. Hey! Don't judge me! I grew up in a era where kids used their imaginations hours on end! (joking about the judging part in fun)

  • Sentimental favorite. Also, searched and found two 45s available. Roulette Records and Moonshot - was there a variance between the two?

  • thats DOPE!!!! ...
