Flea Preventive Side Effects in Shih Tzu

This little guy has had "seizures" for the last two years. He has been to 5 vets with no successful cure or diagnosis. Had bladder stones removed thinking that was the problem but "seizures" continued. Due to another video posted by tunisianswife titled "Warning:Flea Preventive Side Effects" we finally got the answer. Now we are starting the journey to good health the holistic way. If u washed ur dog with flea medicicated shampoo and then used the drops ur poor dog od'ed on the preventatives. U r not supposed to use a medicated shampoo with the preventative in it and the drops. I use the drops after using an oatmeal shampoo on my shih tzu.

@foxyh0tpAnts - No, that was not it. I used regular shampoo. My dog has been off the flea/tick preventative for well over a year now and back to normal. To date I still don't use any flea medicated shampoo (just natural oatmeal).

Hello. It was not Advantage. I don't want to name the product because side effects can occur with all brand name preventives. I was using one that only a vet can give. Glad to hear your little babies are doing better. Mine is showing less of the effectives. Yesterday he had two episodes. Vet said side effects should go away once the drug is out of his system. We have about another week. Thank you for your input. I hope this reaches other folks out there. Hate to see our little guys suffer.

How is your dog now? What did you do to make him better after realizing it was the flea treatment?

@sendtorandy He is doing great! No more side effects. Took him off the flea/tick preventative. It took him a year to become normal again. I felt so bad for him I guess he is just a sensitive little guy.

I have a shih tzu that just had major surgery in April 2010 to remove bladder stones. She spent 8 nights in ICU. She is fine now but she is on a prescription diet and not allowed any treats. She has been on K9 Advantix for over a year. If there is any connection I will be so mad...

Hi. I wanted to ask you was the flea preventative you were using Advantage? I just want to say that my little female Shih Tzu did the exact same thing as yours when she was a puppy and was given Advantage. But fortunatly I figured out it was the Advantage because my other shih tzu Nemo used to act strangly when given advantage years before her. I have never given Advantage to my dogs again. I'm so happy your dog is doing okay now. Poor thing. I know it's scary to see them like this.
