And also since you have a 4.2, if you're looking to do some upgrades to bring the 4.2 up to date, look into the TeamRush and Nutter upgrades (google) and do them. And maybe a good carb like a Holley 2bbl. With some light modification & elbow grease you can use a couple choice 4.0L parts to either convert the 4.2 to EFI or retain the carb and get a major kick in the pants by using the 4.0 head on the 4.2. I would fix things before changing anything else. You may need to change gears!

FIRST thing is first... Get rid of that retarded and dangerous body lift and if you want to keep the 35's you're going to need to lift it properly, which means spending probably $2000 for all the right parts, plus anything that needs replaced in the process. (Grease, tools, brakes, fluids, etc.) Do your homework and pick a good complete lift kit and ditch the transfer case drop, because the right way to lift a Jeep is to get a slip yoke eliminator and a CV style driveshaft. Good luck!

'90 YJ right here, white with a tan top, 3in lift, 33in mud wagon wheels and a Chevy 327.

hey i have a 87 jeep and im from central jersey...i was wondering if u would tell me where this is id love to go there and wheel!
How do you like that Posi- Lok? I'm really considering getting one. I had my vacuume blow out on me in the middle of a mud pit in my YJ. How do they work? Do you engage it then put your rig in 4x4 drive? Or the other way around? Did you install it yourself too? Just been curious.

@8DrugFreeBoy8 The Posi lok is a must! I had it installed with the lift, they have them for lifted and non lifted. Engage it, then put in in 4wd.

Ok i have a 2.5L and it has a 4 inch suspension lift, 2 inch shackle lift, and a 3 inch body lift air raid cold air intake, performance chip, and throttle body spacer, recently placed a hydrogen generator on it. So i was wondering how the tfx exhausts work with sound and performance. Thanks

The TFX was good, little more power, nothing to write home about though...you can hear it in this vid. My biggest problem was that I had stock axles/gearing...that was going to be my next thing but I sold it...tired of the carb...I am thinking of ordering a JK (2 dr) with the 3.73's(only a $50.00 option, no brainer over the 3.21 crap) and going 3" lift w/34x12.5x15 Swamper TRXUS...if I had another $10K to burn, I would get a Rubicon...

How do you like the 4.2? I have been looking at YJs but avoiding the 4.2s and 2.5s.

Mine had the 258 w/carb...go for 91 or newer with EFI if you must go for a YJ...if you don't want the YJ for the leaf springs, go for a TJ!
