I am playing through Final Fantasy 6 for the first time. I came across a glitch. The glitch is most likely well known but it doesn't hurt to have it up again on YouTube.
It involves the Atma Weapon. If you equip Locke with a Thief Glove it will turn Steal into Capture. The Atma weapon's damage depends on how much HP you have. The less you have the less it does and vice versa. However if you use capture with Locke whilst the Atma Weapon is equiped it will ignore the HP aspect of the Atma Weapon.
there's no l in atma, dude

It's an oversight, yeah, and its not unique to the Atma Weapon: that's probably the most noticeable example of it, but it also affects other weapons with "special effects" like the Drainer and the Fixed Dice. When using Capture, the game ignores those special properties and does a standard attack power calculation.
It's been addressed by an enterprising ROM hacker named Brinkster (do a Google search if interested: the patch is called "Recapture the Glory")

I don't think it's a glitch, but a programming oversight. The way it was programmed to calculate damage probably didn't take Atma Weapon into account.
As for Desperation Attacks (aka Limit Breaks), there are certain requirements to get it to work. It's actually a 1/16 chance of activating, but aside from critical status, you must choose the FIGHT command. Capture, SwdTech, Rage, Mimic, Jump, etc. will not get it to work. :/
