I love the BBC Have Your Say website. Unfortunately, comments have a character limit, and unless you're around within the first few hours of them posting an article your comment doesn't get put through the queue before the debate is closed. So, I figured why not use YOUTUBE to voice my opinion instead? :D

"Should there be a free vote on the embryo bill?"

"Should shops be banned from displaying cigarettes?"

Oh, and an impromptu rant about whether poor parenting effects how children behave in class.

Totally agree with you on stem cells. Religious people loathe the idea of the relief of human suffering, if it goes against their insane beliefs.

On smoking, I totally DISAGREE. The only reason the NHS is in crisis is people smoke, drink too much, eat crap and no exercise. Anything gvt can do to boost UK's health is good thing. And smoking has to be the most unworthy 'freedom' to defend. What about the freedom of people who DON'T want to get cancer/heart disease to breathe clean air?

It's not 'freedom of smoking' being defendeded, it's 'freedom of choice'. As I said, I support the smoking ban to a degree (because the right of people not breathing in smoke outweighs the right of smokers to smoke inside), HOWEVER, it went too far as it wouldn't even allow separate smoking rooms.

The extreme tax we pay on cigarettes more than makes up for the burden it causes to the NHS. And what next? Ban McDonald's? Make it a LAW that you have to be a member of a gym?

Defending 'Freedom of choice' as a general principle is utterly pointless without reference to the specific thing in question. Seperate smoking rooms????? What about employees who have to enter those rooms? Their freedom to breathe clean air counts for nothing? And the tax on cigarettes doesn't go anywhere near to compensating for illness and premature death caused to millions of people every year. Answer that!!!

Who HAS to enter a smoking room? Apart from maybe a cleaner, who would have the right not to clean that room if they so wished (though all the cleaners at my place of work smoked!), I can't see who would be forced to go in? And the amount of time they'd have to stand in there is negligible.

That's the other irritating thing about non-smokers. They always exaggerate the damage a couple of minutes, or seconds, of breathing second hand smoke causes them....

..cont, it's not going to give you cancer or any other disease by smelling a bit of cigarette smoke for a couple of mins. It's such a fuss about nothing. It seems that non-smokers are deliberately stubborn and sit on their high horse with their holier-than-thou attitude, without ANY ROOM for compromise. Even when that compromise virtually eliminates any harm to you whatsoever, you still want to use the "it MIGHT hurt me IF I have to breath it at SOME point in time in the future" excuse!

they should Ban religion 4 good if all cart see religion is a bad thing at least tax it to the poor house and but a age limit on it like smoken and boze 21 age limit then see how meny want to beleave in it if they still want to beleave in the lie at least theycan make there mind up when they are 21 years old as long as 2 men or 2 woman love each other its ok

hi there holiday34691 - good point about China - they're exploiting all economic opportunities to the max. China will overtake USA in around 25 years if not sooner. Imagine what a nightmare they would be if they were a religious country!

haha nice try MentalityUK, you defender of smokers. But all the science is against you on the passive smoking issue. It's the cumulative effect, not just one exposure.

While we're on the subject, nicotine man, here's some irritating thing about smokers:

Here in Florida, smoking is totally banned in any place of business and all government buildings. The only exception is a bar (pub) that does not serve food. The problem with smoking rooms and areas is that in most buildings the air systems (heating and cooling) cannot totally prevent second hand smoke from being circulated throughout the building.

Didn't the French try to ban Mc Donald's? :○)

1) No one is more opinionated than a reformed smoker like myself. After having smoked for thirty-three years, I quit thirteen years ago. I was to the point that I was smoking nearly three packs a day. One day I got up to find that I could not take a complete deep breath and could not blow out. I could not blow out a match!

4) Everyone has the absolute right to breath "smoke free" air. This right supercedes any possible right of anyone to smoke in public. When there is some wanker puffing away next to the entrance of a shop, I am then forced to breath second-hand smoke when I enter the shop.
