Dowling College Brookhaven-Aviation

Located one hour from New York City, Dowling College is a private, comprehensive, coeducational college with two campuses situated in central Long Island. Its main campus, nestled on the banks of the Connetquot River in Oakdale, NY is the historic W. K. Vanderbilt estate and is minutes from the ocean beaches. The 125-acre Brookhaven campus is home to Dowling's state-of-the-art aviation facilities and athletic complex.

The School of Aviation offers degree programs meeting the industry needs of today and into tomorrow and has unparalleled facilities in the northeastern United States. Students receive the education they need to excel in careers like air traffic control, aviation management and commercial pilot. Dowling graduates are intensely recruited by employers who know they have a balanced liberal arts background as well as experience with the industry's most advanced equipment.

The Brookhaven Campus is located on the grounds of Brookhaven airport and students can go from the classroom to the cockpit in a matter of minutes. The mild local traffic flow is ideal for student pilot training, yet our close proximity to the busiest airspace in the world is ideal for exposing Instrument and Commercial flight students to the intensity of a truly professional flight environment.

Dowling's flight training is certified under Part 61 and Part 141. The aircraft fleet includes nine Piper Warriors, an Arrow, a twin-engine Seminole, Cessna 152s, and more. Additionally, there are three sophisticated FRASCA Flight Simulators and full-motion RedBird Simulator, which students can use seven days a week, any time of the day or night.

Dowling is one of only 36 approved colleges and universities in the United States that participates in the Air Traffic Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) program, which provides you with the opportunity to become an air traffic controller.

Our interactive, state-of-the-art air traffic control lab is a computerized environment that allows you to develop the essential skills required to succeed as an air traffic controller.
