www. DemocracyNow.org - The United States has confirmed the killing of the radical Yemeni-American cleric, Anwar al-Awlaki, in northern Yemen. The Obama administration says Al-Awlaki is one of the most influential al-Qaeda operatives on its 'most wanted' list. In response to news of al-Awlaki's death, constitutional scholar Glenn Greenwald and others argue the assassination of U.S. citizens without due process has now has become a reality. "One of the bizarre aspects of it is that media and government reports try to sell al-Awlaki as some grand terrorist mastermind ... describing him as the new bin Laden. The United States government needs a terrorist mastermind to replace Osama bin Laden to justify this type of endless war ... For a while, al-Awlaki was going to serve that function," Greenwald tells Democracy Now! Sept. 30. "If you are somebody that believes the President of the United States has the power to order your fellow citizens murdered, assassinated, killed without a shred of due process ... then you are really declaring yourself to be as pure of an authoritarian as it gets."

  • If there really was overwhelming evidence against this guy (enough to supposedly justify his murder), then All the more reason to try him in a Court of LAW.

Otherwise, which Americans will be assassinated next?

    Anti-War Peace activists?

    Nuns, Preachers?

Anyone who promotes Jesus as a Peace-Maker rather than War-Hawk??

  • @Gruesome the Term Magna Carta (1215) and Habeas Corpus (1679) which made the world transition from dark ages law into modern law has been suspended via or new Nazi Regime!

Did this man recieve an open hearing or Trial with or without him?

To drop a bomb via drone in Yemen without a declaration of war is a an act of terrorism ... Obama has shit on the Constitution and international law just as Bush did.

When will the federal govt obey modern law?

  • He obviously knew sum kind of big secret the govt. was trying to cover up...So all you dumbasses who say our govt. loves us an would never kill or cause 911 or unjust wars HERE IS YOUR PROOF! A US citizen was murdered but there are many more ppl such as people like the janitor of the trade center 1 who was speaking out an saying bombs blew up in the basement he was murdered by the govt. along w/ many others in the 911 truth movement.

  • Jesus ...

  • Obama = the new Idi Amin Dada

You will burn in Hell for eternity with the god you worship, Lucifer.

  • al-Awlaki was accused of being a “terrorist” and therefore was not afforded “due process” of law. U.S. government recently declared that any verbalization demeaning the government was a “domestic terrorist.” Should we conclude that anyone who bad-mouths the government is now subject to dead by decree ?

  • @GruesomeTruth After u rambled on about due process, you'll recall i asked u what process was due al-awlaki and what's the legal authority. Instead of answering the question, you've accused me twice now of wasting my time, as if I need time management advice from you. This means that u either have no answer or u don't want a reasoned debate (probably b/c u have no answer). Instead, like other Leftists, you'd rather be encouraged, validated and complemented by those who think like you.

  • America is the only terrorist there is

  • @BjornTuroc

Apply Your rules to yourself, comrade.

Oh, that's right--you believe in 'shoot first, so can't ask questions later (of the dead)'.

You got the lynching you crave, so why bother wasting your precious time here?

Guilty conscience you're needing to work out?

  • I agree with these Democracy Now guys. Absolutely, and I normally don't. Very good call by them.
