This is War (propaganda media sampling music experiment: composed, mixed, and produced in Ableton Live 7)

Hey; the video is cut and pasted together from three US propaganda films: The Soldier's Creed, The Army Air Mobility Team, and Enduring Freedom.

All propaganda sources are www.archive.org. Thank you to puremagnetik for their sound design packs, from which the kick and bass sounds came. Super de dooper thanks to NFA for the acoustic guitar strumming!!

the beginning statement of Enduring Freedom: "I do solemnly swear to support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help me god, so help me god..."

The audio vocal samples are from a World War II radio propaganda broadcast, titled "This is War".

  • Having knowledge from books and lectures is very different from having actual survival skills and knowledge that can be applied to life. People in America are far too sheltered... They view war as an unnecessary part of life that needs to be done away with... While other countries fight for their very existence after being attacked... Our people will support the idea of war for about a year after being attacked... And then start telling the troops how wrong the war is and that they should get o

  • @SWZ32TT That's not the only issue in war though, that some people are good people and they find themselves in war, and they have survival skills and people who communicate instead of reach for the nearest gun have no survival skills... And, the standing core of a "warrior class" has been part and parcel with human culture since long before any so-called "civilization" waged the first "war of imperialism." There's something very different about the wars of today than warriors of LONG yesterday.

  • wow, you made this song? It is so cool, nice job! no reason to state the obvious about the film,,, I was wondering if you have ever listened to the bands, "Art of Noise", & 'Skinny Puppy'?, if not, check them out...

  • I have enjoyed listening to both those artists! Thanks!

  • i would agree we shouldn't have to worship the army but you wouldn't take them for granted if we were a smaller country and getting bullied on a daily basis..

  • I don't take them for granted because bullying others on a daily basis economically, militaristically, and never forget culturally, we should expect the "terrorists" or "commies" or whatev "rogue economy" to target "our" way of life.... I am Canadian, by the way.

  • It's easy to talk about a country having a low percentage of people with a decent education and using that as an excuse for violent tendencies... But honestly some of the smartest people I know are in the military. It's easy to see too. The people out of college with an extensive vocabulary and high GT score who like to throw it in people's faces usually lack any form of common sense. Reading a book in school and condemning those who work, fight, and die... Having no experience in such matters

  • Some of the people posting comments in here seem absolutely clueless. Most of them have probably never been in the military or to a country during a time of hostilities or war. A standing military is a VERY important part of having a country where you can openly criticize those who fight and die for it.

  • @21usarmy21 yea dude wtf is with this cat (madmcall)...

  • @21usarmy21 When I made those comments almost 2 years ago it was never my intent to talk shit about the military. I apologize. I was only trying to say that at any time in history the military has only been as strong and as righteous as the democracy behind it.

  • @madmcall SHUT YOUR FUCKING BRAIN WASHED ASS UP YOU FUCKING SOCIALIST GOD DAMN HIPPIE FUCK YOU AND EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR YOUR FUCKING SCUM INFACT YOUR WORSE THEN THE ENEMY WE FIGHT BECAUSE YOU LIVE IN OFF THE FREEDOM WE FIGHT FOR AND THEN TALK SHIT FUCKING PUSSY

  • The army is the most successful criminal gang in the US.

  • amazing song and ideals in your replies very well done

  • Very cool.
