My hair used to be that way too. It has taken years just to get it a little better. Try a razor cut, and thinning shears. Make sure the stylist knows how to cut curly hair. It helps so much if it's thinned out. Don't use shampoo but maybe once a week or twice a week in the summer when you sweat more. Just use a little on the roots only and let the rest rinse down your hair. Most products are water soluble, so just a rinse with water and condition every day should help a lot.

Loved your video but I have to strongly disagree on one point.Razors are the worst thing curly heads can do to their hair! Allow me to explain...
It exposes large sections of the cuticle to damage. This is caused because razors scrap not slice through the hair like scissors. The hairstyle might look good for a couple weeks but will look scraggly after a month or two. A good curly cut, done with scissors and on dry curly hair, should last 3 to 4 months and compliments the curls.

I've heard that about razors cuts before. I was in between finding a new stylist, so I tried a friend's, and she told me that about the razors, which I had never heard before. I let her do it her way, and it looked awful! Very blunt! I personally haven't had a problem with my hair looking scraggly, even after 3-4 mos., w/ a razor cut. I've since asked some good stylists, and their opinions vary on that subject. It works for me. Maybe I should put a disclaimer in my vid tho :) Thx!

I needed this info. I had a perfect stylist for 3 years she knew how to do my hair. Suddenly she was gone and the owner tried doing my hair...hated it. I have tried finding "the one" to no avail. I have always asked about cutting curly hair but had no idea about a razor and the thinning shears...no stylist has managed to do it right. Unless I specify I want it to air dry & be natural they always, yes always straighten my hair flat. It looks amazing but after I wash it the first time I struggle

Yikes.. You made it through watching my first vid. I looked like a deer caught in headlights :) I am glad the info helped. I guess my main point was, don't be afraid to tell your stylist what you want. You are paying, and just like you wouldn't let the waitress pick your food, don't let your stylist pick your look. If they act like they can't or want to argue, go elsewhere. I had one girl tell me a razor damaged your hair. My hair is in the best condition ever! :) Good luck!!

Also, DO not scrub your hair with a towel. I put the "turban" towel on my head without scrubbing for just about 5 minutes and then put product in it. Using a diffuser for your hairdryer helps too and really dries fast! I swear by BioSilk too. I use it every day, and it makes it shiny without being too heavy!! Good Luck. Sorry my vid wasn't more helpful. Everyone has different hair. Trick is finding a great stylist, and mine only charges about 25 for a cut which isn't too bad.
