When I saw Mario on the list, I was expecting Chrono Trigger as the first one, not kidding.

He's such a perfect opposite to John Carmack! He's like the heart to Carmack's brain or the Kirk to Carmack's Spock. Remember the hilariously bad ad compaign for 'Daikatana' which Romero himself said he regretted? I read somewhere back in the day (probably in some issue of PC Gamer or EGM back in the '90s) that the concept behind 'Doom' was based on a nightmare John Romero had.

he never should have left iD.......

not doom?!

@TheBazman111 not accurate. Some games were coded in assembly, since C was not good enough hardware wise. Assembly programming is like holding sand in your hand, any misplaced breath and something slips out.

@MeisterSuperandi there is a good reason why newer games have more bugs i them they are a hell of a lot harder to code for because the game engines are far more advanced compicated.

yeah age of empires for the win, although age of kings improved greatly one the first one (Yes I like old games, but don't hate all the newer ones)

That was a good time, i don't like new games. Old games have far fewer bugs than new ones!

"My other favorite game of all time is Daikatana. It's the game that I worked on and it was a great experience. I spent millions of dollars and three years working on it and the results were astounding. The graphics are awful, the character AI is beyond stupidity, the weapons are useless, the controls are horrendous, and the game is hard as hell.
As a result of its awesomeness, Daikatana became a flop and my company Ion Storm went down the drain. I highly recommend giving Daikatana a try."
