This is the son of the founder of Uechi Ryu? This is San Chin as I learned it twenty-five years ago. It is interesting to note that the fundamentals of this very basic kata are found in the most advanced forms of many martial arts, in one way or another. This form will help one understand just what it is that makes a martial art's technique work. It is very important, but most students will not understand why this is true for many years after training - if ever at all...

I wish I could have had the chance to meet this man, the son of the founder of Uechi-ryu. At least I was able to meet Toyama-san, who was a contemporary of Kanei Uechi's and who also trained directly under Kanbun himself.
