  • FALSE!!

89 takes 2 secs to solve and taylor

  • @benbattino In RAD and EXACT modes ?

  • that's false.

I've tried with my ti89titanium and nspire.

Indeed, Nspire cas is faster, but not 1 min longer.

89 takes 3 seconds for taylor

  • @v4liumfrance : Have you the TI-89 Titanium with Speed Module ? Are you sure to be in exact mode ? Are you sure to do the operation for the first time (after, the TI saves the answer in RAM memory) ? Do you execute the exactly same calculus ?

  • My TI89 Titanium runs this in 2 minutes, 4 seconds.

Operating System version 3.1, HW version 4.

The Mathematics software is probably improved, but ARM CPU is MUCH faster than 68xxxx. Palm made that switch years ago with their PDA's.

On the TI's PC nSpire software, the Taylor series appears instantly after pushing ENTER - and this is on a modest PC - Pentium D, 4gb RAM.

  • holy shit your right. i tried on my ti89 just to see how long it would take and it took so long i got bored and just tried it on my nspire cx cas and it was instantaneous (dont ask why i have both)

  • i made it in my voyage 200 and takes 2:22 minutes!!

  • @zen811547 because of this: ti89.com

believe it or not the large number old fashioned parts in the TI-89 are expensive to obtain and assemble. The nSpire uses fewer more modern parts that are made in much larger quantities and are therefore cheaper and cheaper to assemble.

  • Casejack an 89, test issues solved...until the teacher asks you to turn the calculator on...although I'm pretty sure you can program a blank start menu into the 89 (like the 84), but don't quote me on that.

  • 89 has CAS... The main reason I would steer clear of the N-Spire is the testing mode feature. Gives teachers too much control. Only reason why I'm staying the with 89. Of course you could mod the calculator and add switches for the LEDs.
