  • show us yours tajiquan dont be strong on the words

  • this guy is such a beginner, all his hand movements with the sword clearly don't follow suit with his leg movements like you don't lift your leg as you lift the sword high into the air, in fact quite the opposite you descend your sword as you lift your leg because it creates a guard as well setting up for your next strike as you lunge forward, these types of swords are similar to fencing style weapons i don't understand how they were misunderstood to be made for chopping and whatnot

  • I would say the pink lady was quite detailed; at the same time, she got more viewers than him.

  • Well, he probably is good. However, he wasn't as flexible as the pink lady. Her kicks were higher, and her stances were lower than him. In my opinion, he was good but not as good as everyone said and if compared to the pink lady in the video. No wonder he's missing 5 stars.

  • Well put. I was at this competition and the gentleman shown here deserved everything he won. He had clearly done the work and earned his skill. Being a teacher has little to do with it. I know plenty of "teachers" who wouldn't even place in advanced competition at Tai Chi Legacy. And it certainly gives weight to his credentials as a teacher if he can say he won grand champion at an event of this calibre.

  • ...Competitions have categories of beginner, intermediate and advanced for just the reason of seperating fairly those practitioners of varying levels of experience. Advanced level competition should encourage practitioners of the highest level...it is only good for the art and its exposure. This way, we may encourage lesser experienced practitioners to continue on their martial journey to one day reach the goal of the level of Sifu Wang and beyond. Best to all in your training.

  • I had the pleasure of competing against Sifu Wang this past weekend in Orlando. I can personally say that he is a man of class and integrity, and a superb martial artist. I am also a taiji teacher and, like Mr. Wang, am in my prime. This is when one wants to compete, to see how one measures against his peers after years of dedicated training.

  • yes, but where is his long white hair and white beard?

  • Integrity counts, a competition is for competitors not teachers, why do you think other masters at the tournaments do not compete. Look up the word. What would other teachers and so called master say if they new he being a teacher competed against others who were not teachers?

You can say what you what, the fact remains integrity counts and from is being displayed in Chinese martial arts, many have missed the mark.

  • Get over it. If you are a teacher teaching you should not be competition. It's simple. It would not be fair to other competitors. If he needs to compete, he needs to compete against other teachers. If he is a master as you so called, then why is he competition? Did he divulge this information to the chief judge at the tournaments, I think not? Hence integrity. It just like me being a physics professor at a university competition in a high school science fair. You get the point.

  • you are way off base with your comments. Since when have masters NOT been allowed to compete? When is it that a master knows it all, and has no room for improvement? Integrity has nothing to do with competition, and Jonathan is one of the most respected men in his field. You, sir, need help.

  • He should not be competiting if he is a teacher. Its not fair to other competitors. Just shows the lack of integrity that has taken over Chinese Martial Arts.

  • That is Sifu Jonathan Wang. He went on to take 17 gold medals and 2 silver in all 19 events...a first ever. He also won the all around National Title. This guy is awesome! He owns the Beijing Tai Chi & Kung Fu Academy in Los Angeles.
