Entergy's 2011 Power to Fight Hunger Campaign raised $25,000, enabling Second Harvest to provide almost 100,000 meals for individuals and families in need.
An estimated 1 in 8 Louisianans struggle with hunger. Since Hurricane Katrina, Entergy has donated more than $227,000 in donations and grants to Second Harvest.
Second Harvest distributes more than 22 million meals a year to over 263,000 individuals in the Greater New Orleans and Acadiana parishes.
The 2011 campaign took a new approach by reaching out to customers through Entergy's The Power to Care Facebook page and Twitter account. For every "like" the Facebook page received, Entergy donated $2.50 to Second Harvest. The campaign generated 2,000 NEW fans for Entergy's Power to Care Facebook page.
