Ectopic Pregnancy Beware

This is a film to raise awareness about a serious complication of pregnancy which affects around 2 % of women and which can results in death or severe damage to the tubes and fertility if not diagnosed and treated adequately. In low resource countries, mainly because of the late diagnosis, ectopic pregnancies kill around 30% of women with the condition. In the UK, there is no sign of a reduction in numbers of death due to an ectopic pregnancy.

The main message of the film is: If you have had a funny period or have not had one for 4-6 weeks and you have pelvic pain with vaginal bleeding: HAVE A PREGNANCY TEST AND GO TO YOUR LOCAL HOSPITAL EARLY PREGNANCY UNIT FOR A PELVIC ULTRASOUND. For more information Email: ept@ectopic.org.uk.
