Fischtisch - interactive LED matrix

Welcome to Fischtisch. We are a group of people who developed an LED display which is able to "see" beside displaying. You can call it a bidirectional-display; like a compound eye, every LED is also working as an photodiode. The brain of the matrix -several microcontrolers- puts the single pixels together to an entire image. In our array the LED is doing both at the same time: light-emitting and light-detecting. The matrix is switching between these two modes in a high frequency, invisible for the eye. You got the impression of a normal LED-panel until you touch the surface... http://www.fischtisch.de

Unfortunatly the LED's are flashing in this video, it's because of the camera and their recording- frequency. The LED Matrix itself runs with 40Hz frequency, so in real you can't see the single frames.
