Here are a few clips from the opening scenes of "King Of Thieves," an interesting re-telling of Dickens' "Oliver Twist" set in Eastern Europe and Germany and within the modern context of child trafficking and prostitution.
In this first ten minutes we are introduced to the main characters, Barbu (Oliver) and Caruso (Fagin). Caruso arrives in Barbu's remote village in the Ukraine and Barbu and he succeed in captivating eachother. Caruso strikes a deal whereby he buys Barbu and his sister Mima, ostensibly to perform in his circus. In reality, Mima will be sold into prostitution and Barbu will be trained as a thief and pickpocket. This film touches on some important issues unflinchingly and is an excellent film as well as having some social relevance. I recommend it highly. (In German with English subtitles - not included in these clips.) Readily available on DVD.

What A Movie i got to see it on SBS an australian TV Channel.. im tryin to buy it but in australia we dont have much overseas movies a shame.

I have seen this...once in a cinema. We went there with school. Mostly people didn't understand at all. But I think it was amazing... Very good movie, shows true and scary reality. Aweful yet awesome movie! Everyone should see it!
