aww your outdoor cage looks just like ours. we saw our baby squirrel this fall. she's been free for 2 years. your babies look happy and healthy!

@cre8ivmind we tend to leave an electric water bowl out where she has access and some food. if you've had a drought it will be hard for them to find food so you may want to leave some thing out every day for them. if you have lots of berries and nuts and such around then they will be fine and can find their own food. that's just my advice from my experience. i'm sure mary knows more though. : )

@cre8ivmind when she seemed frantic in that cage we made a hole in the top of the cage so she could go free but come back at night if she needed shelter or food. she is now free and we saw her this year (which i'll post the vid soon). she has been free, healthy and happy for 2 years now. if she still acts babified then she's not ready. we have found if they act clingy like a baby then they're not ready yet. just go with your gut feeling. they should be ok during the winter...

@cre8ivmind hi! i've never had fox squirrels but we have raised a gray squirrel. it's really about your gut feeling. every animal is different. we had our baby (which you can see in my vids) for about 3 months before she started acting ready. when they start to seem frantic and too crazy for the house you can put them in an outdoor cage. they may seem scared at first but will settle in. we had ours in her outdoor cage for a few weeks and...

There's so cute... I live in TX and I have a couple fox squirrels about this age (2 months or so) that I raised on puppy milk, and now they can eat nuts and seeds. Is now a good time to put them in an outdoor cage? What about when winter comes? Are they too young to be released in the winter?

The squirrels around where I live constantly chase each other.
Will they ever be released someday? Or will you keep them? God they are so cute!! can you hold them?

@FruittisMaris They will be released back to the wild when they're old enough. I definitely can't hold them.
