Everyone from CBS to the BBC agrees that Palin asked the head librarian in Wasilla, Mary Ellen Emmons, how the latter felt about banning books. Shortly thereafter, Palin notified Emmons she was being fired, since as mayor she didn't feel she had the librarian's "full support."
