I love the way the Protomen took a really Japanese thing and turned it into a really American thing. They tap into this kind of Ayn Rand industrial retro-future, all steam and iron and working the mines. The robots are made into a symbol of that - Dr. Light forging the future, lifting mankind up. When Wily turns them into weapons it's a total perversion of their purpose - dragging man down. Eisenhower, Tesla, Edison, rail-roads and atom bombs, it taps right into all that shit. It's amazing.

According to Lyrics Wiki, it is Albert

I think it might instead be Thomas, actually. Thomas mentions his father several times in the song, but Albert's only real intention seems to be convincing Thomas to go through with the plan and to convince him that humanity is frail. In the rest of the album, Albert doesn't seem to be motivated at all by any promise to his father or anything like that, just personal power. Thomas' father's "battle" was the battle to provide, and by making labor robots, everyone is provided for.

    I think it's Albert.

I've seen it theorised in a few places that Albert's father was a soldier, hence "my father's battle": Thomas' father was a miner who died because of his work, hence Thomas' obsession with creating labour robots to assist mankind. It could make sense that, if Albert's father was a soldier, it would explain his obsession with war/killing machines.

Is the voice for the last few lines supposed to be Thomas or Albert? I mean, the voice sounds more like Albert, but "my father's battle will be won" is more apt for Thomas.

Is the last straw, Wily cannot forgive betrayal, he cannot forget the years of friendship thrown away due to Light's actions, and if he has to play the Devil, then he will. This is why the Protomen Fucking DESERVE so much more than they do.

That, that right there, Is good acting and story-telling, simply brilliant, Wily's betrayal, actions, and frame-job make so much sense if you take him as feeling betrayed and lost with Tom, this is a man who he's worked with for years, and now his best friend is leaving him alone. The silence and interlude afterwards speaks of Light and Wily's growing rift, and how Wily accuses and argues with him afterwards is Wily's last shards of humanity disappearing, and his final" Just wait and see.."

What gets me, and what is really amazing is when Wily sings to Light, and says," DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON ME!" He sounds...pleading, almost desperate, a man who is truly evil would not cry for his friend like that. I believe that Wily at this early point was still unsure, that he had plans for the world and The City, but he wasn't willing to betray Light just yet. He still wanted Light with him, and then Light walked away...his voice shows his true colors. Wily never wanted to lose his friend.

Not only does Wily have a beautiful and seductive voice, but he makes it sound that he actually cares, but he feigns it just the same...
