Why is the laser green? I would have thought a red laser would mess with the shooters nightvision less, provided greater (visible) illumination because of greater red recteptor response and have been cheaper/easier to produce...(?)
Is it just green because it looks like "nightvision"..?

Hello,
Green light is the most visible to the human eye and requires the least amount of eye adjustment at night. An eye that has adapted to daytime conditions generally has a maximum sensitivity around 555nm. Compared to the color red which optical spectrum is around 630 – 650nm our eye is closer to the Green region of the optical spectrum at 510 - 530nm.

i would like to know if you have to use an aluminated scope with the nd3 during night hunting

Hello,
You do not need an illuminated scope as for optimal use the green light is zeroed in with the scopes reticle and the green light will work as the "back drop" for the reticle. However an illuminated reticle CAN be used as well. It is a personal preference.
