The same kind of things were said about the Great Secretariat, there's absolutely no base for the speculation. When J.J. acquired Curlin, he had him taken off enhancers.

Carlykaiser - Do you think what Jim Squires wrote in "Headless Horsemen" is true? That Curllin was built by anabolic steroids and declined at the end of his career as the effects were wearing off, He was my favorite horse coming into the Derby - I went to a lot of races up and down the East Coast to see him and was a huge fan. I would hate it if his great performances were due to steroids. Not his fault if it's true. But if it's true, what is wrong with the people who run racing?
