This is a homemade 2 flute ACME Tap I made for creating threaded holes. It can be made with a miter saw, belt sander, Dremel rotary tool, and a bench grinder. I needed a cheap way to make couplers and nuts for my CNC and this method. It cost me a section of the rod I was already using and saved me over $40 since I didn't have to buy the tool. You can apply the same trick to making thread taps of any size with some minor changes to the flute.
