I will explain about Darwin's powers. When Darwin was near the fish tank he puts his head in the tank and turns into a fish and I remember someone saying oh so now I am a fish which is like saying black people can't swim. Then he turns into a some rock like formation and asked the white men to beat him which is similar to a Rodney King style beating. Edi Gathegi and Zoe Kravitz should have known better when taking these kind roles but you have to get paid right.

You didn't talk about Darwin the black guy who died in the movie. Since he was the only black person who was a good guy to die in some bullshit unheroic way while the rest of the x-men who were majority white men go on to fight the bad guys and win. If you ask yes I did stay after the credits to see if he did return. Also the black guy Darwin had the power to adapt but in the movie they made it stereotypical of what black people have to go through.

You seem very intelligent. I was just a movie though.

Instead of looking at the color of their skin and then realizing they have these abilities, their minds jump immediately to the abilities that set them apart from humanity as a whole, making their skin color irrelevant to them, almost as a "lesser crime" of being black, as they would see it.
Also, consider that this facility was run by Oliver Platt's character, who was something of a clear exception to the institutionalized "specism" of the story, and as such, it would be his decision as to the housing arrangements. His is a character clearly more excited by differences than frightened by them.
I'm still trying to figure out what character he represents from the original comics, or if he's simply a new character introduced just for this rewrite of X-Men history.

@loganfifty yea and this maybe true but this excitement is quite a fetishization with mutant, which is analogous to the commodification of the colored body within the white gaze...

To the point of housing all of the students together, regardless of race, I think it is important to realize that, during this period of X-Men lore, these characters, once identified by the government, wouldn't have been thought of as black or white, but as mutant. They were not considered members of the same species.

@loganfifty nooo....sir their color would mos def be seen especially in this era of the 60s...even if they are mutants thas just like saying homophobes only look at gays as that but that is dispelled by the idea of the different treament and images seen when it comes to those who are black or of color as opposed to those who are white...

of crm related subject matter but i think this is just a movie tht is ment to be recieved as is as 1 the opening chapter to a knew trilogy and as a movie about kids who are themselves out cast from society because of reasons that they can't control. i think trying to fit everything concerning all the complexities of the crm in this already complex universe of the x-men wouldn't be depict with the respect it should because that movie would be to long and frankly confusing as hell. to juggle all

@ekadeep88 and for people their age...they were the ones that were doing most of the moving during thar time so why not have that included??? I'm not a director, writer, or producer but i do believe they have a responsibility to give credence to other events that occured...and you are right i will not be making a movie because CLEARLY i do not have the funding to do so...but i hope some people see this video and do something about it...
