  • Small correction-the band is comprised of (rhythm-James Wesly "Jimmy" Smith-bass, the great Al McKay on guitar (albeit he was in the Watts), the great James (Gad) Gadson on drums. If memory serves, Trombonist Ray Jackson(he later conducted for Bill Withers) did the horns(don't know who they were)--one take at Art Laboe's Original Sound studios on Sunset, Hollywood.(Horns were over dubbed). Mongo Santamaria latter did a whole "nuther take on it.

  • @OldGoldSoul Buffalo's own Arlester Christian, he preceded Rick James on putting Buffalo on the map.

  • ARLESTER CHRISTIAN (DYKE) DIED IN 1971. THE BAND PLAYING THE MUSIC IS THE WATTS 103rd ST. RHYTHM BAND. MANY PEOPLE SAY THAT THIS IS THE FUNKIEST RECORD EVER RECORDED.

  • I was just sitting around now thinking about the differences between violent White people and fun loving, friendly Black people.

I kept thinking that Black people have more soul. then it dawned on me that this was a big song at one time. I found it instantly on Youtube. I haven't heard it for at least 30 years! :-)

    Youtube rocks!

  • Who were the members of the band?
