Tips For Incoming Freshmen @ RIT

Some useful things to keep in mind:
- Get on the ultimate meal plan.
- Gracie's is awful, get off the ultimate meal plan.
- Get on the 10 meal plan as soon as possible.
- Put water in your Easy Mac.
- Shower daily
- Remember to backup and defrag your PC.
- Wash your seats every couple of weeks.
- Honor No-Shave-November.
- The laundry under Sol is prime.
- That's-What-She-Said jokes are NOT appropriate for the classroom.
- Do your laundry on weekdays.
- Do your laundry on off-hours.
- DO YOUR LAUNDRY.
- Don't touch the sprinklers.
- Flush the toilets after you've used them.
- Wear flip-flops in the shower. (You don't want foot-AIDS, do you?)
- Lock your rooms, all thefts are from unlocked doors.
- Quit complaining about the weather. It's not gonna make it any better.
- Don't lean back in your chair. Just because it can tip back a little, doesn't mean it's not gonna fall over when you tip it all the way back.
- Don't take Humans vs Zombies too seriously.
- Don't make fun of Mac users.
- Don't make fun of PC users.
- Get an ethernet cable. Use wired internet. Wireless sucks.
- Buy a bike, skateboard, scooter, pair of skates, unicycle, moped, or ANYTHING with wheels.
- However, don't ride your bike, board, whatever on the quarter mile.
- Buy your tickets early.
- Sol's Underground is delicious.
- Don't conserve your meal options or debit.
- The Corner Store is busy EVERY Sunday night.
- Avoid using cliches in everyday conversation. For example, "the cake is a lie" is no longer funny.
- You know that awesome idea that you just had? The one that everyone is gonna think is funny? It's not funny. Don't do it.
- Get up early for registration.
- Get up an hour before class so you can eat, shower, and not feel like crap in class.
- You have two choices. Homework... video games... homework... video games... DO YOUR HOMEWORK.
- DON'T BURN YOUR POPCORN.
- It's worth your time to learn some ASL.
- Complaining about your classes doesn't help.
- Go outside and get some sun. Please.
- Make friends. As many as possible. You won't regret it!
- Don't do anything stupid.
- Don't do anything illegal (on campus).
- And most importantly... HAVE FUN!

Yes, we are freshmen not even out of our first quarter. This is a FYE project. You remember FYE, don't you? Yeah. Cut us some slack :)

Take advantage of the awesome pool RIT has. It's free to use as a student!

Do your roommate contract when your RA says to. It can help avoid some issues. Don't be a pansy about it either or you may end up unhappy. Say what you feel.

Make friends with Art majors ;) it's where the girls are. Respect that they do just as much work as anyone else.
