This was originally a Japanese game. Sega tried to publish the game in English and translated it. It was just really badly translated and unrevised. This was an accident but it just made Sega look like idiots.

Considering all the bad grammar, I'm amazed they got the difference between A.D. and B.C. placement correct (i.e. putting AD before the year). It was probably an accident though.
