  • You're an excellent teacher.

  • Scales are the base of every melody, but also, after you know the scales you start learning the chords that correspond to each scale, all these are tools that make songwriting, improvising and general music.

  • One of Arabic scales = take blues and raise the 6th a half step? Yes?

  • A book of five strings... A book of five rings?

  • could anyone tell me what kind of banjo patrick is playing?

  • Are you a Pecan, or a Pecan't?

  • Mmm this is wierd. Part 2 is listed on my subscription instead of 1. Go figure!

  • Because being able to recognize notes in a scale will basically let you work out any melody line on your own once you know what key you're playing in.

  • Patrick,

I guess my questions is: why do I need to practice scales for?

  • Cool video--I hope you go over more exercises/theory in the future...I already know a bit of that sort of stuff, but for people who don't it's really useful. Anyways, looking forward to hearing some ragas on the banjo. ;-)
