Think here it might be a good idea to put a single level of tiles extending up the wall behind the caulk (sealant in the uk!) Then at least each time u came to repaint and remove... no, hang on... you wouldn't need to remove the caulk as the paint wouldn't come right down to it!

OMG! Not good at all. You should have purchased a better silicone remover that doesn't damage the wall! It's all about the correct tool! This was even worse than with a Stanley knife....
