@jwm239 Yes, thank God we have Mr. Barry's and other great film composers' music to enjoy and appreciate because sadly this kind of of brilliant,memorable film scoring, like a lot of things, died with the 20th century.

@gandy74 CGI is the worst.

The shot of the Cygnus at :23 is absolutely MAGNIFICENT...especially accompanied by John Barry's lush,moody score. I want to see and feel THIS in my science fiction films and sadly today's CGI offerings just don't have a proper sense of scale,scope and dimension.
If there are any film students watching please emulate THIS kind of FX work and use CGI only to perfect the look of the practicals. I don't know about the rest of you but I think this is what a lot of science fiction fans WANT!

@DEREKinNYC Indeed, I love the design of the Cygnus.

stuck on a spaceship millions of miles from anywhere in the middle of space. No visitors for 20 years...but has full security team with guns...))

@joel1975 Not exactly what I meant. I've always had the impression that there was some science fiction novel from the late 19th or early 20th century, not 20,000 Leagues, that was about a gigantic whirlpool.
-
@lizardprotector Yeah, this is a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea....in space.

at 9:06 you can see a hole in the elevator where Maximilian is moored. anyway great effects much better than today's sience-fiction movies
-
@hemandead he put himself on a "fellow crew-diet"
The production design sells this film!
