As an Englishman you might imagine my leanings to be 'typically English' and in support of the current situation.  Nothing could be further from the truth, Ireland as an island should be one country Eire.

Gibraltar should be a part of Spain and stretching it even more the Channels Islands should be a part of France. Colonialism is a thing of the past and should be recognised as such.

The March of the King of Laois ( or "Mairseail Ri Laoise") is a different tune. This tune however is also played in Scotland and claimed as a Scottish tune and is known as "The rock and the wee pickle tow".It would be interesting to know which country it originated in.

I am a true American Mutt. My Father's Father's family is Irish immigrants from the late 1800s and my Mother's Fathers Family is English from around the same time. My Father's Father was married to a woman whose heritage has yet to be determined and my Mother's Mother is descended from German immigrants from the early 1900s. I have embraced as much of my heritage as I can. Irish, German, and English, what a family and what a heritage!
