  • Currently, Congress is insisting on several taxations designed to persuade the American people from wasting energy. I think we should consider affordable alternatives rather than raising taxes.

We must insist on substitute energy suppliers, such as AWEA turbine placements, without the burden of heavy taxes. The problem would be fighting against the lobbyist groups influencing our lawmakers.

  • I'm all for things like turbine placements, but if that isn't coupled with a reduction in energy demand, they won't make a significant difference at the rate energy consumption is increasing.

Im really into alternatives to increased taxation: encouraging more efficient city, transport and home design through tax incentives. In other words, using tax credits to encourage good behavior rather than increased tax to punish. What do you think?

  • YOU'VE BECOME A CELEBRITY :D

  • "Stannnnnnnnnn, are you staring at my headgear???"

    Shelly from south park

(this girl sounds like her, because of her breathing through her mouth & talking simultaneously)

  • If you want alternative resources to work you have to get more funding on the state and local level. The federal government giving tax credits for hybrids or other fuels is interesting.

  • I reject the notion that we are using too much energy. But ya, changing your light bulbs won't do anything anyhow so knock yourself out.

  • Nice job, Stephanie - Congratulations ^_^

  • The answer is right under everyone's nose.. Nuclear Power! Nuclear is the cleanest and cheapest form of power. It's our only hope in the near to 25 year term, after which clean coal technology will be widely available at low cost similar to nuclear. The locals need to keep the taxes they add to the electric bill in check. This way we can plug in them battery operated electric cars and lets go!

  • Hey Stephanie, it's Paul from UPS. Awesome to see a familiar face among the questioners tonight. Congrats.

  • that's real smart using flourescent light bulbs, the Mercury will be great for the environment when they seep through our garbage dumps

  • Thanks alot, I appreciate that. I'm glad there's other like-minded people in here. Take care.

  • I agree, and I think that individuals should receive tax credits for using less energy. I also think that the tax system should be reformed w/ regards to industry and corporations, to heavily penalize for emissions and wretched environmental practices. Now I wish I had mentioned that in my question--as I think corporations need to reduce energy consumption just as much if not more than individuals. liked your question for brownback btw.
