As a small test of the new "HD" compatibility for youtube I'll fight meta ridley on my practice run on normal mode.

In order to get the HD quality you save your movie in windows movie maker or Virtual Dub (aka V Dub) under 720dpi or 1080dpi with window dimensions of 1280 X 720 and set it for widescreen. Or in other words the pixel aspect ratio of the video should be 16:9. But when I did it for the castlevania videos I mentioned earlier they had some huge black boxes on their sides plus I had no knowledge of video cropping with V dub at the time. I wouldn't be able to crop them anyway because they were WMV files. You can ONLY use AVI files in V dub.

while you're at it you can get a good idea as to how long this speed run is actually going to take. I got stalled a few times in some areas so dock off about 30 or so minutes because I decided to take some time reading some of the pirate and chozo data. I haven't started any real recording yet. I'm still doing this casual playthrough so I can reorient myself with item locations and the shortest possible routes to the items. Albeit just from raw memory I only missed three missiles. Not bad...but unfortunately I can't remember where they were! 0.0 oh well...I'll look them up.

Yes I'll do a little machimina here. Just a little.

  • how'd u record this? with a DV camera?

  • No. I wired video component cables from my consoles to my DVD recorder.

  • I see this video was recorded with a capture card. How do I record my gameplay? I have a television with input av cable slots but there is no output. What do I do?

  • I didn't record this with a capture card. I used a DVD recorder. But I don't think I can help you. Your TV must be very old to not have output slots.

  • try using virtual dub to sharpen it up a little. awesome vid btw. can't wait for your speed run.

  • I am using V Dub to do cropping and the HD resizing.

I have tried the smoother and the sharpener but I believe it made it worse.
